E-signatures are Okay to release child record to SSA

The Social Security Administration’s (SSA’s) secure online application and electronic medical record system use electronic signatures to indicate Parent/Guardian consent to release personal information about their child.  If you are wondering if this electronic signature is acceptable to release the child’s Birth to Three records, the answer is YES.

Medical Examiners rely on Birth to Three evaluations as part of their determination of eligibility for cash benefits.

When you receive a request for records about a child currently or previously on your roster that includes a “typed” name of parent or guardian, please provide the requested information at your earliest convenience and place a note in the child record indicating when it was sent.  This reduces the time to process an applicant’s request, thereby allowing families of SSI eligible children to access cash resources sooner.
